6.4d Voting

Voting is a form of survey research in which students are asked to vote on questions related to a particular topic. Voting is an action that citizens can take regarding issues, and their vote affirms the choice they have made on an issue.

To use the voting method in the classroom prepare a ballot similar to the one shown below. Have each student complete the ballot independently, and then summarize the results on chart paper or on the chalkboard.

Put a check mark (3) if you agree with the statement. Put a double check (33) if agree emphatically. Put a cross (5) is you disagree with the statement.

1. Birth control is a legitimate health measure.

2. Birth control is necessary for women who must help earn a living.

3. The practice of birth control may be injurious physically, mentally, or morally.

4. We simply must have birth control.

5. The practice of birth control is equivalent to murder.

6. Birth control has both advantages and disadvantages.
